Biography

With a paralegal background in Civil and Criminal Law, Maureen entered the music industry in 1990 via the Music For Little People (MFLP) and EarthBeat! (EB!) record labels. MFLP/EB! was launched in the rural Northern California town of Redway ~ refuge to numerous back-to-the-landers and idealists in pursuit of community in a more utopian sense. The label was established to fill a void in the world of kids' music and over the years grew into a production company developing a catalog that would include recordings by numerous well-known and independent artists ~ among them, Los Lobos, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Maria Muldaur, Taj Mahal, Cedella Marley Booker, Eric Bibb, Linda Tillery, Sweet Honey In The Rock, Donovan, Kevin Locke ~ as well as to achieve major national distribution.

In addition to negotiating, drafting, finalizing and administering numerous contracts for the recording projects over the years, Maureen has been at the helm in securing a dizzying number of master use and mechanical licenses for songs included in the many compilations released on the MFLP and EarthBeat! labels. In collaboration with the in-house executive staff, the company's ace entertainment attorney, and the knowledgeable lawyers then at Warner Bros. Records, she worked to organize, develop, and manage the Business Affairs Department. In 1997 Maureen moved on to create her own independent consulting service. Since then she has enjoyed working with a variety of independent artists, independent record labels, production companies and music professionals drawing from her years of experience in the industry.
